Sanremo is 20 minutes away, the medieval village of Dolceacqua just 30 minutes, and the glamour of Monaco and the French Riviera is under 90 minutes by car or train. 

Interior & Material 

The entire interior was redesigned from scratch. The plan was rethought room by room to make every metre count. Storage is built in. Spaces are layered to serve more than one purpose. Nothing is wasted.

The material palette is deliberately quiet. Neutral tones, sustainable and robust, were chosen to sit alongside the original stone and floor rather than compete with them. The Italian character of the building — its texture, its proportions, its age — remains the dominant voice. Scandinavian thinking shaped the process: reduce to the essential, use materials honestly, let function define form.

Sustainability in Mind 

This small historic house was thoughtfully renovated with a strong focus on sustainability. Original features such as doors, windows, and floors were preserved to reduce waste and retain the building’s character. Every square meter was carefully optimized to make the most of the compact space. Durable, natural materials like microcement and lime plaster were selected for their longevity and breathable qualities. Full roof insulation improved indoor comfort, while solar panels for hot water help lower energy consumption—creating a simple, enduring, and resource-conscious home.
